I had seen several images after Tony's first trip to Cuba, and was spellbound by the stark beauty of his shots. But, now that I have had a chance to come back to see more of the images, I am so impressed with the power of this collection and how they seem to truly transport one to each scene. Their depth and quiet elegance captures the rich history of a country frozen in time. Thank you, Tony, for your beautiful work!

Just had a moment to see the online portfolio again, wonderful journey. I have seen prints and discussed this project with Tony and now for the first time I realize the significance of what he has accomplished. There is a lightness to this essay that allows the images to speak on more than one level. Tony has found what was lost and brought to our attention the simple pleasure of living, which we have lost in our wealth and first world existence. He has done this with the lightest of touch
and the skill of his craft. Muy bueno Senior Bonanno.

the elegance, the simplicity, the tight clean framing of your images, and the wonderful tonality of your black and white images are to die for. you have certainly revived your art and your interest.

i too spent a few weeks in cuba recently, and its magic revived my spirit and my will to grow my work as well. seeing your images here and knowing the world you captured calls me back there to cuba, like the sirens of the odyssey.

you are a gifted photographer. mr b, and your work rivals that of the cuban photographers your larger project seeks to examine and expose to the wider audience that their work too so richly deserves.

kudos

This body of work is breathtaking. Tony has captured the essence of the place and its' people. I feel as though I could actually touch the walls and fabrics, feel the street beneath my feet, hear the laughter or conversation of the subjects...each and every image is compelling - BRAVO!

Sir: Bravo! My background is in historic preservation with substantial experience and exposure to Spanish Colonial architecture and engineering. I've long dreamed of visiting Cuba to see these fantastic structures, and possibly one day being honored to work on some of them. Your program powerfully presents the texture and artistry of the fabric and makes me sad that I may never be able to see it. Cuba will be open soon. Your photos make me wish I was 40 years younger.
Thank you.

Thank you Annie for sending us the beautiful photos of my Cuba.
I swam to this country on an inner tube from Havana in 1992 for freedom
and found my beautiful wife Marysue in 1999 and many other opportunities!
My lovely 16 yr. old daughter arrived from Havana in 2009. I hope one
day that I can share with my friends the homeland I love so much.
Cuba Libre! God Bless America! Thank you Tony the photos are
wonderful!

Tony-Way cool Bro'. I especially liked the shot of the trash collector. The old classic buildings remind me of a grande dame past her prime like Bubolina in Zorba The Greek. I wonder if I took a dozen brand new fan belts for '50-1957 Chevys, just how many boxes of cigars I barter for. DR

Just incredible. Didn't you need a driver while in Cuba??? I especially liked the kids with stick ball and the classic cars. Sounds like you are back in the swing of things and what an opportunity!

Tony, the slide show just gets better and better each time I visit it. What a great portrait you've put together, and from just a couple of visits to the island!

As the Cubans say: "Te lo comiste"! ( you ate it ) Your photos show that you took nice bites of Cuba, tasted it, savored it, and washed it down with a Cuban spirit. Great job! What a most magnificent and strange place is Cuba. Can't wait to go back.

The Cuba link you have created is fabulous! (I love the RED highlighted button - it's perfect.) Glad you present the series in black & white; it's extraordinarily powerful that way. Good decision. The pictures are enormously soulful, Tony. I commend you. We, the viewers, get an intimate look at contemporary Cuba, get a feeling for what life there must be like today. In a way, I hope they don't open up the island; there is still an innocence and serenity in Cuba. At least, that's what comes through in your lovely photos. And the music adds just the appropriate poignancy to the overall presentation. Good work, my friend!

Hi, Tony! What amazing photos - my three favorites are the two earliest ones in the gallery with the kids on the street, and the old stone patio with the gate that opens onto a jungle that looks almost limitless - that one is just magical, I couldn't stop looking at it!

Kind regards, Kaaren
